On Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 12:30 PM, the Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci will present to the public and the press Prato 88 by Mauro Staccioli, relocated in the square in front of the museum thanks to the initiative of the Municipality of Prato and the support of the founding members.
The inauguration marks the return of an iconic work that symbolizes the bond between the city and contemporary culture. Created by the artist in 1988 on the occasion of the opening of the Centro Pecci, the tall, elegant sculpture once again rises at the city’s entrance as a tangible sign of the presence of contemporary art in Prato.
Following the presentation, the exhibition Re-thinking the Sculpture by Mauro Staccioli, organized by the Mauro Staccioli Archive, will open to the public. On view for free until January 6, 2026, in the Sala Incontri of Centro Pecci, the exhibition features drawings, sketches, and sculptures documenting the genesis of Prato 88 and the artist’s creative journey — from the relationship between sign and landscape to his major monumental installations in Tuscany and around the world.
