Horizons: Dystopic Futures
In a world dominated by the corporations, some “videocamera men” are used as the eyes of a mysterious figure known only by the name of “Management”. Meanwhile, inside a fire-damaged chapel, the computer wizard Oohen Leth lives like a recluse, trying to find the solution to the mysterious “Zero Theorem” and resolve the meaning of life. But his isolation and work are interrupted from time to time by the surprise visits of Bainsley, a fascinating woman who tempts him with virtual sex, and of Bob, a rebel genius and the son of Management, who incites him to resolve the theorem. When Bob invents a jumpsuit for virtual reality which is able to transport Ohen on an inner journey, he lives an incredible experience which puts him in touch with the dimensions and hidden truths of his own soul, where there are the answers which both he and Management are seeking. The latest visionary film of Terry Gilliam returns to the science fiction/dystopic genre without abandoning his unmistakable surrealistic vein.
