by Marcello Maloberti
The video Raid by Marcello Maloberti, recently acquired in the museum’s collection, testifies the homonymous performance realized on October 13, 2018 for celebrating the 14 th Giornata del Contemporaneo AMACI. The action gathers some of the recurring themes of the artist, as the book fascination, the relation with iconic images from the history of art, the union between museum dimension and ephemeral actions, the idea of multitude and collective body can be found here as a formalization with the involvement of different people for their age, ethnicities, religions and sexual orientation that combines to achieve the same gesture, apparently senseless but disruptive.
The performance is developed casually and all of a sudden within the space: a real and proper reid, which connects the art of the past with the symbolic works of the history of Centro Pecci as its thirtieth anniversary was celebrated in 2018. Raid leaves behind its minimal presences and at the same time evocates its passage: the monographs on the great names in the history of art are torn apart by the action of the performers that remain for days on the floor of the exhibition rooms, like desecrated remains. The three photos on display are shown.
