Bring Her Back by Danny and Michael Philippou

CineBrividi is the Centro Pecci’s program dedicated to cinema that explores the realms of the fantastic, the uncanny, and the unsettling.

Created as a space for exploring and reflecting on genre cinema, from horror to thriller, from science fiction to psychological gothic, CineBrividi investigates the ways in which contemporary filmmaking represents the fears, desires, and obsessions of our time.

Now in its third edition, CineBrividi has become an anticipated annual event for film enthusiasts and lovers of visionary storytelling. Each year, the program presents previews, cult films, and encounters with filmmakers, offering a wide-ranging and curious look at a genre that, perhaps more than any other, reflects the anxieties and fragilities of the contemporary world.

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of CineBrividi will take place on Friday, October 31, celebrating Halloween night with a horror marathon running from the afternoon until the early hours of the following day.

  • The program opens at 5:00 p.m. with Bring Her Back by Danny and Michael Philippou, one of the most acclaimed films of the 2024–2025 season, confirming the vitality of the new wave of international horror cinema.
  • At 7:00 p.m., the national premiere of The Ugly Stepsister by Emilie Blichfeldt offers a dark, feminist reinterpretation of the Cinderella tale.
  • At 9:00 p.m., Al progredire della notte by Davide Montecchi, winner of the Vespertilio Award 2025 for Best Independent Italian Horror Film, will be presented in the presence of the director.
  • Closing the night, at midnight, is The Babadook by Jennifer Kent, featured in the CineBrividi Cult section — ten years after its original release, now celebrated as a modern classic of cinematic terror.
