The Contemporary Network in Tuscany is a cultural programme developed with the aim of enhancing and connecting the practices, collections and sites of contemporary art across the region.
Through a shared programme of screenings, public talks and guided visits, the initiative offers a dynamic map of contemporary art in Tuscany, fostering dialogue among museums, art centres, foundations and territorial projects, and providing audiences with new perspectives on the art of the present and the recent past.
The programme places a particular focus on environmental art and art in the public realm, exploring the relationship between artworks, urban contexts and landscape, and the role contemporary art can play in cultural and social transformation processes. In this sense, The Contemporary Network functions as an open platform for exchange, intertwining artistic practices, critical reflection and experiential engagement.
The programme involves several cities across Tuscany and is developed through collaboration among the institutions that are part of the Network, together with the associate partner Hypermaremma, also in memory of Giuliano Gori (1930–2024), a key figure in the dissemination of environmental art and in fostering dialogue between art and landscape.
All events within the programme are free of charge and are conceived for a broad audience: art enthusiasts, scholars, cultural professionals and citizens interested in exploring contemporary art as a shared and evolving heritage.
