Francesca Mannocchi arrives in Bucha two days after the liberation from the Russian troops who had occupied it for 33 days. She documents, without sparing anything from sight, the massacre committed against the citizens. She approaches the people, gaining their trust because she lets them talk about what they have experienced and are still experiencing without interrupting their stories.

"Ukrainian Lyrics, written by Francesca Mannocchi with Daniele Mustica, is not a reportage on the war waged. Those who see it rarely hear a cannon shot and the soldiers, always and only Ukrainian, are sporadic presences. Mannocchi's film is made above all of silence. The silence of death that follows the passage of the devastating wave of war brought by the Russians. The silence of the rubble in which the signs of a disrupted daily life are found mixed together. The silence of the bodies of people killed for no reason in the courtyard of their homes. The silence of the buildings blackened or disfigured by the bombs and also left lifeless. The silence of a grayness that pervades everything." (Martino Scacciati)
