A chance meeting between Paul and Paulette on a Parisian boulevard sparks an unusual friendship that develops around a dark game: the reenactment of gruesome crimes from bygone eras in the places where they occurred. For Paul, the game is a way to get closer to Paulette. For Paulette, it's an attempt to escape the painful breakup with his girlfriend and process the traumas of the past. As the morbid journey gradually draws closer to a more recent past, the game becomes increasingly distressing, blurring the lines between reality and fantasy, yet allowing the protagonists to find unexpected happiness in the darkest corners of humanity.
