Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci presents a new appointment in the Cinema Encounters series, hosting Monica Guerritore, who will be in attendance to introduce her new film Anna and engage in a conversation with the audience.

This special evening offers the opportunity to hear directly from the director and actress about the creative process behind a deeply personal and powerful work dedicated to the iconic figure of Anna Magnani.

    The Film

The film focuses on the night of 21 March 1956, as Anna Magnani waits in Rome for the news that will crown her Academy Award winner for Best Actress for The Rose Tattoo.
During those suspended hours, walking through the streets of her city, she is followed by memories that resurface—key encounters, defining roles, and the intense, troubled love for Roberto Rossellini.

    Monica Guerritore

Actress, director, and writer, Monica Guerritore is one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian theatre and cinema. Active since the 1970s, she has worked with major directors and shaped memorable roles that marked the Italian stage and screen.
In recent years she has expanded her career as a director, bringing forward a highly personal and expressive voice, often centred on significant female figures of the twentieth century.
With Anna, Guerritore signs one of her most intimate and mature works: a heartfelt tribute to a woman and artist who transformed the global cinematic imagination.
