In 2022, Accento was founded in Milan by television and radio host Alessandro Cattelan, an avid reader and the well-known face behind the Instagram series #recensionivelocidilibri.
The publishing project aims to “put the accent” on new voices in Italian fiction as well as on overlooked or out-of-print authors, with a catalogue primarily focused on fiction and selected forays into non-fiction.
Guests of the evening
- Alessandro Cattelan – Founder
- Matteo B. Bianchi – Editorial Director, writer, author of the literary podcast Copertina and editor of the short story magazine ’tina
- Gianmario Pilo – Commercial Director of Accento, Head of Events for Lucy sulla cultura and Lucy sui mondi
Accento – The Pop Return to Publishing
The publishing house releases around ten titles per year, all in paperback format, and currently features three series:
Accento Acuto (dedicated to debut authors), Accento Grave (dedicated to rediscoveries), and Dieresi (dedicated to non-fiction).
Among the titles already published: Quasi di nascosto, an anthology of 12 new authors under 25 selected from over 400 submissions, and a new edition of Generation X by cult author Douglas Coupland.
Enhancing the project is a young, nomadic team and a strong focus on editorial design: a “pop” graphic identity conceived to highlight the stories and authors rather than the publishing brand itself.
Four years after its founding, Accento presents itself to the audience of Centro Pecci Books, exploring independent publishing, literary scouting, and emerging trends in the industry.
