Curated by Antonella Catarsi and Chiara Ruberti with Giacomo Bazzani
Third appointment of the project TU35 Geographies of emerging art in Tuscany, dedicated to artists who are active in the territory of the province of Pisa.
Works by Matteo Berton, Alessandro De Francesco, Leandro Estrella, Francesco Guernaccia, Gianluca Leonardi, Alice Milani, Silvia Rocchi, Maria Teresa Soldani.
A project organized by the Centro per l’Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci with the Officina Giovani (Youth Workshop) of Prato to probe, capture and investigate the creative energies which surround us, and encourage the experimentation, transversality and blending of artistic disciplines and creative languages: visual art, music, cinema, video, multimedia and design.
The first stage of the TU35 project was a public open call for Tuscan curators under the age of 35, but also for Italians and foreigners who have chosen Tuscany as their place of production and work. In this reconnaissance survey, the ten Tuscan provinces Arezzo, Firenze, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena, were all involved, so as to have the most wide-reaching possible view and a complete, heterogeneous mapping. The exhibitions were held at the Officina Giovani (Youth workshop), at the ex-Macelli Pubblici (former slaughterhouse) of Prato.
The Centro Pecci received 45 applications and 23 curators and 2 collectives were chosen: Antonella Catarsi, Annalisa Foglia, Federica Forti, Alessandro Gallicchio, Claudia Gennari, Alessia Lumini, Elena Magini, Stefania Margiacchi, Margherita Nuti, Gabriele Pantaleo, Gino Pisapia, Angelo Renna, Stefania Rinaldi, Chiara Ruberti, Matteo Teodori, Serena Trinchero, Saverio Verini, Špela Zidar and the collectives ones.office – a non-exhibition space and Trial Version. The curators are followed by 5 tutors: Giacomo Bazzani, Lorenzo Bruni, Pietro Gaglianò, Matteo Innocenti and Alessandra Poggianti.
On the occasion of the TU35-Geographies of emerging art in Tuscany reconnaissance survey, a blog was created. This is constantly updated and can be consulted at tu-35.tumblr.com. It is an active online search platform where the preparation of each single exhibition project is narrated through images, videos, documents, reflections, quotations, inspirations. A work-in-progress, a kind of logbook, which will involve the selected young curators throughout the project and will end with the images and videos documenting each single exhibition.
Alessandro De Francesco (Pisa, 1981) vive e lavora tra Bruxelles e Basilea. La sua pratica artistica si concentra sulla manipolazione dei materiali verbali.
In Augmented Writing sovraccarica e disgrega oggetti testuali, prelevati principalmente dai media e dal web, fino a renderli talvolta illeggibili e indecifrabili.
