Centro Pecci offers tours and workshops for people living with dementia and their caregivers. The activities are designed for small groups from care homes and day centers, but are also open to individuals through the Atelier Alzheimer program.
With the support of experienced museum and geriatric educators, these activities create a welcoming space for sharing. They encourage free verbal, emotional, and physical expression without judgment, using methods such as storytelling, TimeSlips, and multisensory, hands-on, and performance-based approaches.
The program supports social interaction, helps build stronger relationships with family and professional carers, boosts self-esteem and confidence, and values each person’s emotions and experiences in connection with the artwork.

The In corso d’opera program was launched in 2017 by Centro Pecci, Museo del Tessuto, Museo di Scienze Planetarie, and Musei Diocesani in Prato, together with Cooperativa Sarah. It was originally created for groups from local care homes.
In 2021, the program expanded to include the Atelier Alzheimer, thanks to a partnership with Consorzio Astir–Il Borro and support from the Società della Salute Pratese, through the Musei per l’Alzheimer service, part of the regional initiative to support people with reduced autonomy at home.
Since 2019, Centro Pecci has been one of the founding members of the Musei Toscani per l’Alzheimer network.
