Cinefilante – Preschool at the movies is a project aimed at preschools in Prato, with the goal of encouraging young children to experience animated films in their natural setting — the movie theater. Within this project, Centro Pecci leads a specific initiative dedicated to video art, a language that belongs to the world of contemporary art.
The project’s main aim is to introduce very young children to cinematic works and to help them discover cinema as a cultural practice. Centro Pecci took part in the first two editions of the project with an innovative proposal, developed in collaboration with artists and major contemporary art institutions. The screenings are followed by workshops designed to offer a first opportunity for children to reflect and build on the experience they had in the cinema.
For the 2024/2025 school year, classes participating in the project were offered short films created by artist Adelaide Cioni and selected episodes from the animated series Mon petit œil, produced by the Centre Pompidou in Paris and specifically designed for children aged 3 to 6.
Cinefilante – Preschool at the movies is funded through the call for proposals “Progetti di rilevanza territoriale” (Projects of Territorial Relevance) as part of the “Piano nazionale cinema e immagini per la scuola” (National Plan for Cinema and Images for Schools), promoted by MIC and MIM, and coordinated by Casa del Cinema di Prato Società Cooperativa – Impresa Sociale.
