Thursday October the 3rd, 6pm, Sigfrido Ranucci – La scelta (Bompiani 2024) – in dialogue with Giorgio Bernardini.
For the first time, a courageous and independent journalist — a longstanding advocate for press freedom — opens up about his life and work. Together with his team at Report, he dedicates each day to scrutinizing information, connecting events, and listening to voices to decide how to tell the stories some would rather keep hidden. The strength of Report lies in its simple yet powerful mission: to present citizens with the raw narrative of facts through meticulous investigative work, even when the path is fraught with risks that affect the personal lives of journalists.
Sigfrido Ranucci (born in Rome, 1961) is a journalist, author, and television host. He joined Rai in 1990, initially reporting for Tg3 segments and later for Rai News 24, where he conducted numerous investigations into illegal waste trafficking and the mafia. He recorded the last interview with Judge Paolo Borsellino and was sent to New York in September 2001 to cover the 9/11 attacks, then to Sumatra in 2004 to report on the tsunami. Ranucci has also reported from conflict zones in the Balkans and the Middle East, producing investigations on human rights violations. Since March 2017, he has been the host of Report on Rai3, taking over from the program’s creator, Milena Gabanelli. He has received multiple awards for investigative journalism and is the co-author, with Nicola Biondo, of the book Il patto (Chiarelettere, 2010).
