On the occasion of the widespread exhibition dedicated to Eva Marisaldi (Bologna, 1966) for the Fifteenth Day of the Contemporary Art, promoted by AMACI (Association of Italian Museums of Contemporary Art) the Centro Pecci will host the work Untitled (1999) placed in dialogue with a video workby the artist, Progress (2018)

The work of Eva Marisaldi centres around the relationship with the other, understood as opposition and an antidote to mistrust. The artist’s inclusive gaze has a light but profoundly transformative touch, which embraces reality abd raises it to a poetic act.

Each of her works is a gesture of attention to the surrounding world, an act  of care for a sensitive matter, human beings and their fragility, and together an invitation to open up to the unknown and overlooked. A research that becomes ever more topical in the contemporary reality.

Untitled (1999),  the work presented for the Day of Contemporary, consists of an installation that documents a performance. Some prostitutes are pictured along via Emilia in Bologna while wearing clothing designed personally by the artist.

The “care” demonstrated by Marisaldi is an attempt to transfigure their daily life into a fairy-tale, transforming their reality if only for a few minutes. In the exhibition, the clothes used are hung on a clothes line that accompanies the seven photographs that serve as a visual testimony ot that encounter. Progress (2018) takes the name of the buses in Nigeria that travel from the villages to the cities: the work is a collage of videostaken from the internet and embellished with animations by the artiston a green screen. In the video, different times and spaces merge into a single journey that crosses a surreal panorama, imagined while looking out of the window.

Eva Marisaldi (Bologna, 1966) has participated in many exhibitions in museums and institutions in Italy and abroad, such as: P.S.1, New York (1994); Manifesta I, Rotterdam, (1996); Castello di Rivoli, Turin (1997); Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena (1998); GAM, Turin (2002); MART, Rovereto (2005); MAMbo, Bologna (2007); Tate Modern, London (2010). She participated in the Biennale di Venezia in 1993 and in 2001.
