Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Luigi Pecci and the Accademia Musicale Chigiana are launching a new collaboration as part of the CHIGIANA International Festival & Summer Academy 2026, inaugurated with two concerts on 9 and 13 August 2026, at 9:15 pm, in the Sala Grande of Centro Pecci.
The initiative marks the beginning of a dialogue between two of Tuscany's leading cultural institutions, united by a shared commitment to artistic research, education and cultural production. These inaugural concerts open a new collaborative path, bringing together music and contemporary art while creating fresh opportunities for artistic exchange and interdisciplinary dialogue.
The first concert, on Sunday, 9 August, will feature the Young Artists of the Double Bass Masterclass, led by Giuseppe Ettorre, with Pierluigi Di Tella at the piano.
The second event, on Thursday, 13 August, welcomes French-Dutch violist Sào Soulez-Larivière, performing together with the Young Artists of the Viola Masterclass, taught by Tabea Zimmermann and Sào Soulez-Larivière. The programme includes works by Julia Wolfe, Missy Mazzoli, Steve Reich and Johann Sebastian Bach, performed by a viola ensemble formed by the participants of the course.
As Lorenzo Bini Smaghi, President of Centro Pecci, remarks:
"This initiative is part of Centro Pecci's growing commitment to openness and interdisciplinary exchange. The collaboration between two outstanding cultural institutions of Tuscany, Centro Pecci and Accademia Chigiana, is a project we consider deeply strategic. It represents the beginning of a partnership that we expect to grow significantly from next year onwards, strengthening the dialogue between institutions of the highest cultural standing."
The 9 August concert is free of charge, subject to venue capacity, with advance booking recommended. Admission to the 13 August concert is by ticket, available through the Accademia Musicale Chigiana website.
