Céline is about to become a mother. Yet, she is not the one who is pregnant; in three months, her wife Nadia will give birth to their baby girl. As the due date approaches, Céline grapples with the expectations of others, societal judgment, and a legal system that does not automatically recognize her role as a parent. Thus begins a journey to find her place within the family that is about to come into being.

"I wanted to create an image that was missing. There were no models to look to.
I felt the need to tell an intimate story about what our way of building a family challenged, while simultaneously exploring its uniqueness and its normality. It is an attempt at reconciliation in a space that has for too long been marked by violence" (director Alice Douard).

Drawing on personal experience, Alice Douard crafts a universal tale that addresses parenthood in same-sex couples with a fresh, luminous perspective. Steering clear of clichés and the conflict-ridden narratives so often seen, "Love Letters" opts for the tone of a romantic comedy—embracing tenderness and the rhythms of everyday life—to offer audiences a moving, accessible story that sparks dialogue.
It is a story that, while centering on a queer couple, speaks to everyone: addressing the doubts that accompany any journey toward parenthood, the universal question shared by every mother or father ("Am I truly ready?"), and the—often uncertain, yet deeply human—quest to find a way to become one. Featuring powerful performances by Ella Rumpf, Monia Chokri, and Noémie Lvovsky, "Love Letters" brings to life authentic, multifaceted characters as they navigate the desire to build a family and find their place within it.
