1997, summer in a sleepy, residential Ferrara. Eight-year-old Linda moves in with her mother Eva, after leaving her wealthy and protective grandmother's home in Switzerland. There she meets Azzurra and Marta, two sisters often left to fend for themselves by their mother, torn between her role as a nurse and her passion for dollmaking, and by their distant father. Until now, they have been able to rely on their faithful dog and Carlino, the queer babysitter who looks after them, but with the addition of Linda, they form a band of girls who, in perpetual motion, explore the neighborhood, the world, and the possibility of growing up.
Directors Valentina and Nicole Bertani will be present for a meeting with the audience.
"A hyperkinetic childhood tale with a lively, original, and salutary aesthetic for our cinema. An approach to imagery and narrative that's a bit of a reverse reflection of another pair of siblings, the D'Innocenzos: the two sisters, originally from Mantua, move in similar settings but replace nihilism with a particular brand of eccentric empathy." (Tommaso Tocci)
