Library and archive

The Visual Arts Information and Documentation Center of Prato (CID/Visual Arts) houses a vast collection of over 60,000 items, including monographs, catalogs, magazines, and audiovisual materials. The archive provides comprehensive documentation of 20th and 21st-century artistic movements and significant exhibitions hosted by prominent national and international institutions — from museums and foundations to public organizations and private galleries — with a particular emphasis on the activities of Centro Pecci.

Since its opening in 1989, the documentary collection has grown through acquisitions, gifts, and donations of private archives from critics, publishers, artists, and art scholars, including Ferruccio Marchi, Francesco Vincitorio, Giancarlo Politi, Ermanno Migliorini, Sergio Santi, Amnon Barzel, Egidio Mucci, Mario Mariotti, Leonardo Savioli, and Flora Wiechmann.

The collection also includes recordings of educational workshops conducted by Bruno Munari at Centro Pecci and other institutions during the 1980s and 1990s.

In April 2021, the archive-library of Florentine art critic Lara-Vinca Masini was acquired.
