Centro Pecci mourns the passing of Remo Salvadori (1947–2026), the internationally acclaimed Tuscan artist, whose death brings us profound sorrow.
Salvadori played a leading role in numerous exhibitions organised by the Prato institution: from his major solo exhibition in 1997 to the exhibitions marking Centro Pecci’s tenth anniversary in 1998; from the survey exhibition Artist Cinema in Tuscany 1964–1980 (2004) to the relaunch of the international project ARS AEVI in progress (2014); from the first presentation of the collection in the expanded museum building, From the Cave to the Moon. A Journey through Centro Pecci’s Collection (2017), to the more recent exhibition Smisurata. XXL Works from Centro Pecci’s Collection (2025).
Over the years, Salvadori accompanied Centro Pecci’s journey, sharing an artistic vision understood as an inner revelation, one that takes shape in the artwork as the essence of a relationship with places and encounters with others: “a path to be undertaken with mind, heart and limbs, towards a desire for awareness,” as he often said.
Thank you, Remo, for illuminating us with your gracious presence, your reflective and poetic words, and your magnetic, contemplative art.
Stella (1998) by Remo Salvadori, created for Centro Pecci’s tenth anniversary and later acquired by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Prato, is installed on the ground floor of the museum in the Enrico Pecci space, in dialogue with Sol LeWitt’s Wall Drawing #736 (1993), a permanent environmental work.
