CENTRO PECCI

Nel Sud is an audiovisual work by the electronic musician Mai Mai Mai and was completed in collaboration with the video artist Simone Donadini. The project was presented at the 2016 Pesaro Film Festival and consists of a live soundtrack added to a montage of footage shot by filmmakers who made the history of Italian ethnographic documentary inspired by the research of Ernesto De Martino: Luigi Di Gianni, Gianfranco Mingozzi, Vittorio De Seta and Cecilia Mangini. The film clips, assembled and manipulated in real time by Donadini, allow us to wander around southern Italy, exploring the intertwining of pagan rituals and Catholicism, between the labour and the dignity of life and death, and the frailty of man subdued by Nature, by the "Divine" and by the "Magic."
