CENTRO PECCI

Irene Russolillo, a young Italian choreographer and performer, presents the performance Sorpresa (Surprise), the first part of which was staged in September 2016 at the Hotel de Galiffet in Paris with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture. For the Pecci Centre, Russolillo brings forward the creation of a specific relationship between the inner being and the surrounding space, building a site-specific creation which touches on the same themes as the exhibition The End of the World.

"Prendo appunti in vista del nuovo progetto coreografico, proseguo il percorso iniziato a settembre scorso all'Hotel de Galiffet di Parigi; seguo alcune parole chiave per instaurare una relazione col pubblico, sensualità, invito, cura. Lo faccio riprendendo materiali fisici e vocali che già conosco e manipolandoli dentro ad un ambiente improvvisativo in cui mi relaziono e scambio informazioni col suono di Spartaco Cortesi. Cerco un mood che sia in sintonia col tema della mostra che il Centro Pecci ospita, La fine del mondo, per sospendere il tempo e abitare un nuovo spazio musicale, fisico ed emotivo."

Irene Russolillo, dancer, performer, actress and young choreographer, studied with great teachers including Susanne Linke, Raffaella Giordano and Giorgio Rossi (for contemporary dance) and Cesar Brie (for physical theater). In 2014 she won the Premio Speciale Equilibrio Roma for best performer and in 2015 she won the Premio Prospettiva Danza, along with Davide Calvaresi, for their first project Map. She has been performing for Roberto Castello since 2010, first in the television programme Vieni via con me (Come away with me) by Fabio Fazio and Roberto Saviano, and then in all of the company's productions. In February 2016 she made her debut at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome in the speech, directed by Lisi Estaras.
