Bambi comes to the big screen at Centro Pecci Cinema on Sunday 1 November at 10:30 am, as part of the Animiamoci film series. Screened in Italian.
Bambi is a handsome young deer who learns to live in the forest, the dangers of the environment, and the changing seasons with the help of his mother and his friend Thumper, a lively and agile rabbit. As he grows up, he meets the right mate and starts his own family.
For the film, Disney took the liberty of changing Bambi's species to a white-tailed deer from his original species of roe deer, since they do not inhabit the United States and the white-tailed deer would be more familiar to local audiences. The film received three Oscar nominations: Best Sound (Sam Slyfield), Best Original Song (for "Love Is a Song," originally sung by Donald Novis), and Best Original Score.[1] It was the highest-grossing film of 1942 and the last animated feature film of Walt Disney's "golden age" (1937–1942).
